National Children's Book Day.

April 18 – National Children's Book Day is the date chosen to celebrate national children's literature. That's because, on that day, in 1882, the writer Monteiro Lobato was born. Therefore, it is a date that celebrates this type of literature and honors this writer, considered the pioneer, the father of Brazilian children's literature.

April 18th is an opportunity to honor Monteiro Lobato and his work for children. However, more than that, it is a date that celebrates Brazilian children's literature as a whole. In this way, authors of this genre, as well as their books, are remembered on this occasion.

José Renato Monteiro Lobato was born in Taubaté (SP), on April 18, 1882 and was responsible for founding the first Brazilian publishing house, in 1918. Before that, all books written by Brazilians were printed in Portugal. Monteiro Lobato, who died in 1948, is considered to be of great importance in children's literature in Brazil. His works were printed and translated into more than 10 languages ​​and the commemorative date intends to encourage reading since childhood.

Thus, on National Children's Book Day, a whole universe of creative and imaginative possibilities is celebrated that are presented to young readers in formation, who venture into the fictional pages of a book that, many times, will instigate their imagination and, consequently, it will expand your perception of the world.

International Children's Book Day

While the National Book Day is celebrated on April 18 in honor of Monteiro Lobato, the International Book Day is celebrated onapril 2.

The international day was implemented in honor of the Danish children's writer namedHans Christian Andersen(1805-1875). His best-known works are: The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid.
